FingerPrint Matching with UPEK Sensor for Linux
Status: INTEGRATED
The aim of the project is to provide a free driver for the UPEK Fingerprint Sensor TCRU2 (USB ID 0x0483:0x2015). This device is typically integrated into laptops (such as the Samsung P35).
Although Linux support for this device is listed on the UPEK homepage, the offered drivers do not support this device. Some users tried to get in contact with UPEK to solve this, with the questions of releasing a driver or a specification for the device. UPEK's answer stated, that they will not work on a linux driver and left the question about specification unanswered. Maybe they will release, we will see.
That's why we started a driver on our own, after some hours of sniffing the windows USB traffic we got a working Linux driver which scans the image.
But here is the big show stopper: This devices can only scan, matching is done via software.
So next term is to write a matching program, like the one you can download below. It is working at the moment, but the results are still between good and worse :)
Check it for yourself and feel free to improve this program.
