We are currently working on two sides of Tabos. The first one is to enhanced the driver support like sata/acpi/network driver, including bugfixes the OHCI USB driver. On the other hand we are redesigning Ocean in order to support a better design with much more widgets. You can look into the screenshots section to see the current progress. Along those two sides we did a port of newlibc, nasm and the binutils. Native GCC support is on the way.

The long journey is over, we have released the new stable version 0.2.8. You can grab a svn copy of the code or download the iso image. A lot of new features have been added, too many to list them here in detail. For a rough overview look at the november report.

No! We're not dead. We did a lot of work on the Tabos code and now we are close to release a new version, which will feature a lot of new enhancement. Here is a small list:
  • Hash tables introduced to replace some code parts in order to increase speed
  • Scheduler is now pluggable; you can switch the scheduler at boot/runtime.
  • Fix vm86, which should now work on all computers.
  • DMI check
  • APM support
  • Started smp/apic support
  • Fix for usb disk driver
  • Improved EHCI, OHCI and UHCI drivers
  • Small SCSI support
  • Network stack based upon lwIP
  • New sound drivers for es1370, i810, via686a and vt82xx
  • Improved video drivers
